As our film is a British Indie film, we decided that we had to have British institutions that would produce and distribute our film. We researched existing British production companies and distributors so that we could choose which would be suited for our film
Production companies
For the production company, we created our own independent production company that is based in London. QUAK films focus mainly on films that represent the LGBTQ community. I created the logo for the company and Alex made it into a gif that would represent how the final product will appear in our film opening. Click on the photo or gif below to enlarge:
We chose BFI as the main institution that would fund the production of our film. The BFI supports and develops British films such as ours by using the National Lottery funds to provide a stable platform for filmmakers to produce and distribute their film. The theme of our film corresponds to the BFI's aim to 'record contemporary life and manners ... and their impact on society'. By having a British gay protagonist, we hope to convey British values and tradition, as well as the effect on society. Our film will be set to premiere at the British Film Festival.
Distribution company
We chose Film 4 to fund and distribute our films. Film 4 is an established British production company that has produced existing British Indie films such as 'Beautiful Thing', 'Submarine' and 'Frank'.
